National Conference 2026 – Terms and Conditions of Sale
1. Application of Terms
1.1 These Terms and Conditions of Sale (“Terms”) apply to the purchase of tickets for, and attendance at, the Australian Law Students’ Association National Conference 2026 (“Conference”).
1.2 By purchasing, holding, or using a ticket, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1.3 These Terms apply to both the original purchaser and any subsequent ticket holder.
1.4 ALSA may engage third-party ticketing providers or venues. Additional terms from those providers may also apply.
2. Australian Consumer Law
2.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or any other applicable law.
2.2 Under the ACL, you may be entitled to certain remedies (including a refund, replacement or resupply) where there is a major failure or other breach of statutory guarantees.
2.3 To the extent permitted by law, ALSA limits its liability in accordance with clause 10.
3. Ticket Purchases and Pricing
3.1 All prices are stated in Australian dollars and include GST unless otherwise specified.
3.2 A booking fee or processing fee may apply and will be disclosed at the time of purchase.
3.3 Ticket prices may change at any time prior to purchase. Once purchased, prices will not be adjusted.
3.4 Tickets may be subject to availability and purchase limits.
4. No Refunds Policy
4.1 Subject to clause 2 (Australian Consumer Law), all ticket purchases are final and non-refundable.
4.2 Without limitation, refunds, exchanges or credits will not be provided for:
(a) change of mind;
(b) inability to attend;
(c) illness or personal circumstances;
(d) travel or accommodation issues; or
(e) dissatisfaction with the Conference.
4.3 You acknowledge that your rights to refunds are limited to those required under applicable law.
5. Travel and Accommodation
5.1 You are solely responsible for all travel, accommodation and associated arrangements.
5.2 ALSA is not responsible for, and will not reimburse, any costs incurred in connection with attendance at the Conference, including (but not limited to):
(a) flights, transport or parking;
(b) accommodation;
(c) childcare; or
(d) incidental expenses.
5.3 This applies even where the Conference is cancelled, postponed, relocated or varied.
5.4 ALSA strongly recommends that attendees obtain appropriate travel insurance and ensure bookings are flexible or refundable.
6. Conference Program and Changes
6.1 ALSA reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to:
(a) vary, reschedule or cancel any session or event;
(b) substitute, withdraw or replace any speaker, panellist or participant;
(c) change venues, seating arrangements, formats or timings; and
(d) adjust program content or structure.
6.2 Conference details may change at any time, including with little or no notice.
6.3 Such changes do not entitle you to any refund, credit or compensation, except as required by law.
7. Cancellation or Postponement
7.1 ALSA may cancel, postpone or relocate the Conference (in whole or in part) at its discretion.
7.2 If required by law, ALSA will provide an appropriate remedy. Otherwise, ALSA may (at its discretion):
(a) reschedule the Conference; or
(b) offer a credit or transfer.
7.3 To the maximum extent permitted by law, ALSA will not be liable for any additional losses or expenses incurred by attendees.
8. Conditions of Entry
8.1 You must hold a valid ticket to attend the Conference.
8.2 ALSA may refuse entry or remove any attendee for:
(a) breach of these Terms;
(b) unsafe, disruptive or inappropriate behaviour;
(c) failure to follow reasonable directions; or
(d) non-compliance with venue or legal requirements.
9. Health, Safety and Risk
9.1 You agree to comply with all applicable laws, directions and safety requirements.
9.2 Attendance at the Conference is at your own risk.
9.3 You acknowledge that participation in live events involves inherent risks, including risks to health and safety.
10. Limitation of Liability
10.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, ALSA excludes all liability for any loss, damage or injury arising out of or in connection with the Conference.
10.2 Without limitation, ALSA is not liable for any:
(a) indirect or consequential loss;
(b) economic loss or loss of opportunity;
(c) loss of income, profits or goodwill; or
(d) travel or accommodation costs.
10.3 Where liability cannot be excluded under law, ALSA’s liability is limited (at its option) to:
(a) resupply of the relevant services; or
(b) the cost of resupply.
11. Force Majeure
11.1 ALSA is not liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations where such failure or delay is caused by a Force Majeure Event.
11.2 A Force Majeure Event includes any event beyond ALSA’s reasonable control, including:
(a) natural disasters (e.g. bushfires, floods, earthquakes);
(b) pandemics or public health emergencies;
(c) government restrictions or directions;
(d) war, terrorism or civil unrest;
(e) industrial disputes; or
(f) failure of utilities, transport or venues.
11.3 In such circumstances, ALSA may cancel, postpone or modify the Conference without liability.
11.4 Each party bears its own costs arising from a Force Majeure Event.
12. Photography and Media
12.1 ALSA may photograph, film or record the Conference.
12.2 By attending, you consent to the use of your image, likeness or voice in any media without compensation.
13. Tickets and Resale
13.1 Tickets must not be resold or transferred for commercial purposes or at a premium, unless authorised by ALSA.
13.2 Tickets purchased through unauthorised sellers may be invalid and refused entry.
14. Lost or Invalid Tickets
14.1 You are responsible for keeping your ticket secure.
14.2 ALSA may, at its discretion, replace lost or damaged tickets.
15. Amendments
15.1 ALSA may amend these Terms from time to time.
15.2 Updated Terms will apply to purchases made after publication.
15.3 ALSA may also amend Terms where required to comply with applicable law.
16. Governing Law
16.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales.
16.2 Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the relevant New South Wales courts.
