ALSA Environmental Justice Moot
The ALSA Environmental Justice Moot invites law students to step into the courtroom and tackle some of the most pressing legal challenges of our time.
From climate change litigation and environmental regulation to the rights of affected communities and corporate responsibility for environmental harm, competitors will engage with complex and evolving areas of law that are shaping the future of legal practice. Teams will argue a fictional appellate case before a simulated court, presenting written submissions and delivering oral arguments as they advocate for their clients.
The competition is held entirely online, making it accessible to students from law schools across the country. Teams of 2–4 students will work together to research the problem, prepare submissions, and present oral arguments before a panel of judges drawn from the legal profession.
The moot is designed to sharpen students’ research, written advocacy, and oral advocacy skills, while encouraging critical engagement with the legal frameworks that govern environmental protection and climate accountability.
Whether you are passionate about environmental law, interested in public interest advocacy, or simply looking to challenge yourself in a dynamic and thought-provoking competition, the ALSA Environmental Justice Moot offers a unique opportunity to develop your advocacy skills while exploring one of the most important areas of modern legal practice.
