Women’s Advocacy Mentoring Group

The Women’s Advocacy Mentoring Group (WAMG) is a student-led initiative that supports and champions female and gender-diverse law students to pursue advocacy and thrive in law school. Founded at the Australian National University in 2025, WAMG focuses on building confidence and practical advocacy skills through mentoring, skills development, and peer support. The group hosts regular meetings and sessions with experienced students and guest speakers to discuss competitions, legal research and writing, and pathways into advocacy-focused legal careers, and has since expanded nationally to support law students across Australia.

Launch Event

This year, ALSA is partnering with WAMG to expand the program nationally. We will launch the initiative with an in-person event at the College of Law in Sydney (Level 4, 570 George Street) at 5.30 pm on Thursday, 26 March.

Attendees will hear from leading female practitioners, including the Hon. Justice Yehia of the Supreme Court of NSW, who will share their experiences, insights and advice on advocacy and professional development.

Attendees will also hear from the National Director, Alison Cook, who will share insights on how to establish a Chapter at your university.
